Before you can begin coaching, there are essential requirements to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
DBS Check
Your first step is obtaining a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is a mandatory background check for anyone working with children, ensuring a safe environment for our players. Once you commit to the coaching role, the club will facilitate this process for you free of charge.
FA Safeguarding and First Aid Courses
After your DBS check is underway, you'll need to complete the FA online Safeguarding and First Aid courses. These courses equip you with the skills to protect and support children. The safeguarding course covers child welfare issues, while the first aid course prepares you for handling minor injuries or emergencies. Completing these courses fulfills legal requirements and ensures player safety. Each course costs £30; managers are asked to pay upon enrolment, and the club will reimburse upon completion.
